SPM protection mats are designed to guarantee the highest possible level of safety on all occasions: the wide range of products is suitable for protecting various types of obstacles (poles, trees, walls, snowmaking, rocks, etc.). All SPM mattresses are coated with high-strength PVC (650gr/m²) and are available in standard yellow or, on request, orange, red, blue and green. SPM mats come in different types depending on the material they are made of.
FOAM RUBBER MATS
SPM foam mats have a 21 kg/mc high density elastic polyurethane foam core, with double heat sealing and are available in different shapes and sizes. They can be fixed by means of eyelets or Velcro on the two long sides or along the entire perimeter. Foam mats are available in the following standard sizes:

TS10 SAFETY MATS
Composed of 4 cm thick polyethene sheets and cylinders glued together, and covered with high-strength PVC (650 g/m2), they are light (35% more than standard mattresses) and easy to transport. For the same thickness, TS10 mattresses absorb twice as much energy as foam rubber mattresses, thus further reducing the possibility of injury. The special polyethene padding absorbs very little water (0.1% of its own weight, foam rubber absorbs 98%): this reduces the risk of structural damage due to internal water freezing. AIR PADS
Air Pads high absorption mattresses are the best solution available to cushion the impact of an athlete in the event of a high-speed fall: the low-pressure air contained in the protection system guarantees protection and energy dissipation along its entire surface. The special internal design allows optimal shock absorption. Tested in the SPM laboratory and then crash-tested at the CSI in Bollate (MI) – the centre where F1 car tests are performed – they are perfect for protecting athletes in World Cup races. The Air Pads are easily anchored to the ground with special support poles and, thanks to the Velcro applied on the front, can be customised by adding PVC sheets or advertising mats.
The Air Pads can be positioned
– in the finish area, to secure the braking space in the finish area of races (used for World Cup, Olympics, World Championships);
– along the run, to protect pylons and TV structures on the racecourse, or customised according to specific needs and particular criticalities;
– along the run, to protect videomakers and photographers, thanks to their particular circular shape, they allow cameramen to have a wide field of vision and to work in total safety.

MULTIDENSITY MATS
Thanks to the combination of foam sheets connected together by transverse elements and the consequent formation of air chambers with a high shock energy dampening effect, Multidensity mattresses provide absorption equal to that of air mattresses but do not require maintenance and inflation systems. They are therefore very suitable for permanent protection of dangerous high-speed environments. Designed with special carrying handles and a lower sliding sheet, they are covered in PVC and are fixed by means of suitable posts or rear fixing systems.
